Littelfuse General Port Protection provides a wide array of solutions for power and communication ports. Ports need protection from common electrical hazards such as lightning surges, induced power surges, power cross, electrical fast transient, electrostatic discharge, and short-circuits due to aging wires or installation errors. Littelfuse General Port Protection products are ideal for automotive, building automation, consumer electronics, and industrial applications.

SG Gas Discharge Tubes

Littelfuse SG Gas Discharge Tubes (GDT) offer high surge ratings in a miniature package and are designed for surface mounting on PCB with a small size of 4.5mm x 3.2mm x 2.7mm. The GDTs' low insertion loss is perfectly suited to broadband equipment applications. Their capacitance does not vary with voltage, and will not cause operational problems with ADSL2+, where capacitance variation across Tip and Ring is undesirable. Littelfuse SG Gas Discharge Tubes are extremely robust and are able to divert a 1000A pulse without destruction.

Ethernet ESD, Lightning, & Power Fault Protection

Littelfuse Ethernet/PoE ESD, EFT, Lightning, and Power Fault Protection ensures that the power fault overcurrent can be protected with Telelink fuses. The Ethernet Power Fault Protection includes the SMCJ and SP40 TVS Diode, SP3, SRV05xx, LC03xx, and SP40xx Diode Array, and the 0461xxx Fuse series. Littelfuse RS-485 ESD, Lightning, and Power Fault Protection feature polymeric positive temperature coefficients (PPTCs) that can protect against short circuit and power crosses. The RS-485 product line includes the resettable PPTCs, TVS diodes, GDTs, and SIDACtor series. The TVS Diode Arrays and SM712 series are specifically designed to protect RS-485 applications from ESD, EFT, and lightning-induced surges. When lightning occurs, the SIDACtor will react by causing voltage to increase across PPTC until GDT fires.
